Rafting The Salmon. It is the ultimate vacation. A cup of strong coffee as you put on your gear, the sun kissing you good morning as you start out for the day. The lively banter of your boat mates as you anticipate the thrills the day holds. The amazing landscape as the backdrop. The freshwater shower to make sure you are ready for what lies ahead.

And then you see it. The white foam, circulating, surging, calling you forward. Your guide hollers for an “All-forward!” and you charge on, slipping through, dipping, turning, wave crashing all about, your heart racing, paddle stroking, soul singing. You have made it through, won against the waves. Calm water. In the distance, more white foam. The day is fully alive.

After a full day’s excitement, a glass of wine, a superb dinner, a campfire on a white, sandy beach, and great company to recount the day. And the anticipation of another day of the same tomorrow.
